Hallmarking Operator.
Position: Hallmarking Operator
Reporting To: Assay Master
Hours of Work: 08:30-16:15
Contract: Full-time - Permanent
Dublin Assay Office carries out the statutory function of testing and hallmarking articles of precious metal. The service is provided by a small team of staff based in Dublin Castle, we now wish to recruit a team member for our marking (production) room.
Description: This position may suit a new entrant to the workforce or a person returning to full time employment after an absence. The new member will undertake in house training as a hallmarker using traditional punches and laser. This role will involve the application of the statutory hallmark on articles of precious metal, principally finished jewellery that require careful handling to avoid damage. This role will also involve the unpacking and repacking of articles of precious metal.
Responsibilities of the role include
- Sorting and preparation of articles for hallmarking
- Application of the correct hallmark to articles submitted
- Ensuring that the applied mark is legible and no damage has been caused to the article
- Recording the number of marks applied
- Submitting articles to supervisor for quality control checks
- Carry out any special instructions received from customers
- Unpacking and repacking articles of precious metal as required
- Ensuring all processes are carried out with a high degree of care to avoid blemishes to finished jewellery
- General marking room duties as assigned from time to time
Skills/Experience Required
- Ability to handle articles with a high degree of care
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Some computer experience desirable, as some hallmarking is by laser.

Immediate Start - Junior Accounts / Administration Assistant (full-time).
Position: Junior Accounts/Administration Assistant
Reporting To: Financial Controller
Hours of Work: 08:30-16:15
Contract: Full-time - Permanent, with probation period of six months
Dublin Assay Office, based in Dublin Castle, carries out the statutory function of testing and hallmarking articles of precious metal. The service is provided by a small team of staff based in Dublin Castle; we now wish to recruit a Junior accounts/administration assistant.
Description: This role supports the finance team in the administration and account’s function, with the key responsibilities below.
Responsibilities of the role include
- Processing sales invoices and customer receipts daily
- Customs clearance administration
- Issue monthly statements
- Maintaining membership register and renewals
- Answering phones, dealing with service queries
- General office administration
- Other accounts duties as assigned from time to time
Skills/Experience Required
- Customer service focus with good communication skill
- Good attention to detail
- Some Accounts/PC experience is desirable

Panel of Hallmarking Operators (Part-Time).
Salary: Based on experience
Hours of Work: Part-time, up to 20 hours per week, flexible
The Dublin Assay Office (www.assay.ie) is responsible for the hallmarking of all gold, silver, platinum or palladium jewellery or plate, manufactured or imported into Ireland.
We are forming a panel of part-time Hallmarking Operators to support our Hallmarking production team, at our premises at Dublin Castle.
We are seeking flexible, hard-working and positive individuals with the following skill sets: confident, flexible attitude, dexterous with good eye and hand coordination, quick learner, customer liaison, articulate, and self-motivated. You will work as part of a team of Operators, reporting to the Supervisors and Manager of the Hallmarking area.
No previous experience required and full on-job training will be provided to ensure you achieve a high level of competence in all aspects of the role.
Responsibilities of the role include
- Unpacking and tray preparation of items
- Laser hallmarking
- Press work hallmarking
- Hand mark hallmarking
- Packaging of items for shipping
- Administrative duties, accurately recording items processed, and record levels of work, turnaround times achieved, and quality issues flagged
- Proactive communication regarding quality, operational or customer matters with the Production Manager or Supervisor to ensure there are no issues or concerns
- Abide by the Company’s Security rules and Regulations.
Hours
This is a part-time role based on up to 20 hours per week. Shift pattern to be agreed.
