Position: Panel of Hallmarking Operators (Part-Time)
Salary: Based on Experience
Hours of Work: Part-time, up to 20 hours per week, flexible
The Dublin Assay Office (www.assay.ie) is responsible for the hallmarking of all gold, silver, platinum or palladium jewellery or plate, manufactured or imported into Ireland.
We are forming a panel of part-time Hallmarking Operators to support our Hallmarking production team, at our premises at Dublin Castle.
We are seeking flexible, hard-working and positive individuals with the following skill sets: confident, flexible attitude, dexterous with good eye and hand coordination, quick learner, customer liaison, articulate, and self-motivated. You will work as part of a team of Operators, reporting to the Supervisors and Manager of the Hallmarking area.
No previous experience required and full on-job training will be provided to ensure you achieve a high level of competence in all aspects of the role.
Responsibilities of The Role Include
- Unpacking and tray preparation of items
- Laser hallmarking
- Press work hallmarking
- Hand mark hallmarking
- Packaging of items for shipping
- Administrative duties, accurately recording items processed, and record levels of work, turnaround times achieved, and quality issues flagged
- Proactive communication regarding quality, operational or customer matters with the Production Manager or Supervisor to ensure there are no issues or concerns
- Abide by the Company’s Security rules and Regulations.
Hours
This is a part-time role based on up to 20 hours per week. Shift pattern to be agreed.

Job Title: Team Lead/s – Marking Room (Production Area)
Reports To: Assay Master & CEO

Job Role
To lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Marking Room, while providing hands-on hallmarking services using traditional Hallmarking Press and Laser Marking equipment. The core role of the Team Lead will be to hallmarked goods, and provide hands-on leadership, technical support, and performance oversight while fostering a service-oriented, high-performing, and collaborative team environment.
Key Skills & Abilities
- Hands-on hallmarking duties on key accounts and orders using Hallmarking Press and Laser Marking equipment. Also, ensuring equipment is maintained and used safely and efficiently.
- Coordinate workflow, allocate tasks, and ensure timely service delivery in line with customer and business expectations.
- Support team members in meeting individual and team performance objectives.
- Apply HR processes such as timekeeping, absence monitoring, performance feedback, productivity, and informal performance management.
- Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and probation monitoring in collaboration with HR.
- Respond to and advise on customer queries related to hallmarking techniques, standards, and outcomes.
- Liaise with internal departments to resolve complex service issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Report directly to the Assay Master & CEO on key operational and performance metrics including: Daily/weekly throughput, quality control and accuracy issues, resourcing levels and staff utilisation, turnaround and service delivery times.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in processes and service.
- Monitor adherence to quality assurance processes and collaborate on corrective actions as needed.
- Support the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality benchmarks.
- Develop and implement training plans for new and existing staff, including shadowing arrangements and cross-skilling opportunities.
Knowledge & Experience
- Hands-on hallmarking duties, with responsible for completion of personal work and supervision, quality checks and order management of team members work. Also, includes communication with Customers regarding (registration), ordering of punches and laser set-up, special requirements etc. (Note- candidates will receive training, as required, on hallmarking duties as required during probation period).
- Equipment problem-solving and maintenance of both Press equipment and Laser.
- Knowledge of the Jewellery and Precious Metals industry and impact on hallmarking requirements, opportunities, and issues.
- Awareness of modern Production systems and processes (such as Lean Manufacturing, Quality Control, use of Technology etc) to optimise service turnaround times, workflow and assignment of work, and customer feedback.
- Decision making, demonstrating insights and ability on when to make decisions on their own or in collaboration with Assay Master and others.
