The Assay Office has been situated in the grounds of Dublin Castle since 1925. Dublin Castle has been at the heart of the history and evolution of the city since its foundation in 1204. Today, spanning an area of over 44,000 square meters (11 acres), along with the Assay Office the site contains Museums, Cafés, an International Conference Centre, Gardens, Government Offices and the State Apartments which are the most important state rooms in the country.
